Kamy Saeedi

Founder and Principal Lawyer

Kamy Saeedi founded Kamy Saeedi Law in 2008 with the aim of providing legal representation that goes beyond the transactional. His journey from a newly arrived migrant to one of Canberra’s most successful lawyers has instilled in him a profound understanding of vulnerability and resilience.

Having graduated from ANU with a Bachelor of Laws and Commerce in 2002, Kamy has a comprehensive knowledge of the law, the courts and how to win. He has extensive experience in both the ACT and NSW, from murder trials to drugs matters in Sydney’s notorious Kings Cross. Renowned for his high-profile case experience, Kamy specialises in defending people in the most challenging circumstances. He guides clients through some of the most difficult times in their lives with empathy and finely honed expertise.

With more than 20 years in commercial and criminal litigation in the ACT and NSW Supreme Court, Federal Court and High Court, Kamy is a trusted advisor to individuals as well as corporations large and small.

Michael Kukulies-Smith

Partner, Criminal Law

Michael Kukulies-Smith is a leading criminal lawyer with extensive experience in complex, high-profile cases. His expertise includes appeals, sexual offences, assaults (including family violence matters), drug trafficking, corruption inquiries, disciplinary matters, serious motor vehicle offences (including those involving death), fraud offences, confiscation of criminal assets, and human rights advocacy.

Michael is known for his meticulous approach to legal analysis and his courtroom advocacy. He plays a pivotal role in law reform through his work as the chairperson of the ACT Law Society’s Criminal Law Committee and as a member of the ACT’s Law Reform and Sentence Advisory Council.

Erin Taylor

Erin Taylor specialises in civil litigation, commercial law, and wills and estates. Erin has built a reputation as a steadfast confidant for clients facing the most complex circumstances over more than 15 years in practice. Her strength lies in developing lasting relationships, allowing her to tailor successful legal strategies to her clients’ specific needs.

Wendy Kukulies-Smith

Partner, Criminal Law

Wendy Kukulies-Smith holds a PhD from ANU, where her research focused on the impact of sentencing on families. Before joining Kamy Saeedi Law, Wendy lectured in criminal law at ANU, specialising in sexual assault laws and sentencing. She was also a prosecutor with the ACT Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), further developing a well-rounded perspective on all sides of the criminal justice system.

Wendy served as the principal editor of the Commonwealth Sentencing Database, a pivotal resource managed by the National Judicial College of Australia, and has an honorary appointment at University of Canberra as an Adjunct Assistant Professor. Wendy’s strategic approach and commitment to justice make her a fierce advocate for her clients.

Ariana Van Wyk

Associate

Ariana Van Wyk has been with Kamy Saeedi Law since 2015, starting as a personal assistant while at university and becoming a solicitor with the firm on her admission.

Specialising in commercial and transactional matters, Ariana focuses on property, leasing and business acquisitions. She is service and results-driven, and a great relationship-builder. Ariana delivers practical and effective legal solutions.

Michael Mascitti

Associate

Michael Mascitti joined Kamy Saeedi Law in 2012 as a University of Canberra law student, starting as Kamy’s assistant and progressing to Associate.

Michael’s diverse legal practice includes contractual disputes, debt recovery, personal and corporate insolvency, building and construction disputes, and professional negligence claims against lawyers, accountants and other professional advisors. He is expanding his expertise to include planning and environment litigation, an area of growing importance at Kamy Saeedi Law.

Simon Rooke

Solicitor

Simon Rooke worked at the ACT Magistrates Court for 12 months in 2023 as a Magistrate’s Associate before joining Kamy Saeedi Law as a paralegal.

Simon studied his Bachelor of Laws at the University of Canberra and graduated in 2024, the same year he was admitted to practice law in the ACT. We are delighted to welcome him as the newest solicitor on our team.
